Ballot
Access 2004
The Green Party once again must work hard to regain ballot access in Texas.
This means that before Green Party candidates can have their name on the
Texas ballot along with their party affiliation listed as "GRN", WE
need to collect tens of thousands of signatures statewide on official
petition forms. You can help get us
on the ballot!
- Register to vote. You must be registered to vote in order for your signature to count
- Do NOT vote in the 2004 Dem or Rep primaries. This is the
one time we will tell you not to vote. Texas law requires that only people who do not vote in either primary are elligible to sign the petition.
- Sign the petition to get the GP on the ballot. Your signature, along with thousands of others will help us get on the ballot. Remember, you cannot sign a petition for more than one political party.
- Help get others to sign the petition. Once you've signed the petition you can help by getting others to sign the petition. The more signatures we have, the better off we'll be. If every Green can get just 10 additional signatures, we will meet our goal.
The
Petition Drive begins the day after the Big Party primaries, March
10, 2004; it ends 75 days later on May 24, by which time we SHALL
have collected an average of 1,000 legitimate signatures per day:
75,000. That covers the requirements with a nice solid cushion.
Enough OUT Greens live in Texas that if we each fill up a petition
sheet (ten signatures), the Green Party regains ballot access. Just
to be sure, let's all of us double up to cover the unfortunate Green
folks who don't know enough other politically sensible people... yet!
We need to hook up!! But the best part is getting out there in the
streets and connecting with your fellow citizens!!! Really. You can
volunteer now to help by contacting us!
