Also speaking in opposition to the amendment were Alyssa Burgin of The Texas Drought Project, Jake Tucker of Students United for Socioeconomic Justice (OccupyUTSA), and Rachell Tucker, representing Bexar County Green Party.

At a similar press conference today in Austin, Travis County Green Party was represented by Roger Baker.

“Well over half of the money raised so far by a political action committee promoting a water funding initiative in Texas came from Associated General Contract(or)s of Texas, Dow Chemical Co. and Energy Future Holdings/Luminant, according to a report filed this week with the Texas Ethics Commission.

“Water Texas PAC raised $952,202, including $725,000 from the AGC of Texas, Dow and EFH/Luminant, according to the report.”
